All you need to think about is holding on tight, these dogs don't hang around for slow boarders! Don't worry, we're not going to throw you to the dogs (who're quite happy with their diet of meat and fish), you'll meet a husky handler who can explain what the dogs do, why and give some history of where they come from. You'll be shown how to ride the cart and control the dogs and along with your handler, will get to ride behind a team of two to four dogs through the stunning Darent Valley. Back at the centre, warm up with a hot drink and piece of cake. It may look easy, but the balance and skill required makes for some tiring mushing or hiking (terms used to run the sled). You also get a family pass for two adults and two children into the centre, which houses many fascinating creatures including displays of reptiles and birds.

You'll start with a briefing session before climbing aboard your dual-controlled glider with your expert instructor. Then the glider is towed into the air by a light aircraft (okay, this bit is noisy, but you have to get airborne somehow). This one day intro to Hang Gliding is a fantastic way for you to get a taste of this extreme but serene sport! You will have a fun day during which you will be introduced to the equipment and the principles of hang gliding and will have a go at all sorts of things such as ground control launching and take off! The centre uses a winch which ensures that you will be able to progress much faster than you would on a hill. This is a great day and if you decide to continue with your training to become a qualified hang glider this counts as the first day of your EPC course. You can soar with the birds!Course Content : You will start your day by meeting your instructor at the centre before learning some theory on how a glider flies having a safety briefing and being introduced to the equipment which includes the glider harness and helmet. You will then work on a simulator to get a feel for how a glider flies. You will learn how to rig and de-rig a glider before doing some short runs with the glider; your feet will be on on the ground but the glider will be catching air and you will be starting to learn how to handle a glider. The fun really starts when you are attached to the winch - the winch is at one end of the airfield and you & your glider at the other; the speed the winch pulls you at determines how high & fast you fly. You will start off being pulled for some short hops and as your skill and confidence builds you will progress to longer flights. By the end of this great day you can expect to be doing short flights where you will be 15 - 20ft in the air. Please note: Progress is dependent on the individual student and wind strength.
