A fun packed introduction to the exciting sport of Powerboating. The full day experience varies slightly at each centre but will start with a briefing on land before learning low speed handling skills in sheltered water. In the afternoon, you'll be picking up speed and taking on the thrill of handling these power machines in more open water. This is a group activity so you'll be sharing this experience with others. Includes training from an experienced instructor as part of a small group (numbers vary between centres), issue of safety and buoyancy equipment, and waterproof clothing, hands on experience in RIB, Zipcat or Honda off-shore powerboat depending on location. After a safety briefing you'll board your custom-built Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). Heading upstream from the London Eye, you'll see the Houses of Parliament before racing back down to Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf, with unrivalled views of Tate Modern, St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London along the way. Your experienced skipper knows lots of stories about the layers of history that have built up along the river, and you'll be pulling up sharply to learn some of the history behind the landmarks, and entertaining the crowds as you whisk around in 360-degree spins. After a few hours, you might just feel like one of the international jet set! This full day programme will leave you breathless with excitement. Here is your unique chance to race single-seater monohulls, catamarans and hydroplanes. Nothing else gives you such a feeling of mastery over the water. This is a great opportunity to learn straight from the experts how to drive three types of race boat, hydroplanes, catamarans and monohulls. In the hydroplanes you either kneel or lie flat on your stomach. The day will start at 9:00 with registration and tea and coffee. At 09.30 you will be officially welcomed, given a drivers briefing and introduction to the sport. Between 10:00 and 11:00 there will be an introduction to the boats, followed by practice driving until a buffet lunch at 1:00pm. From 2:00 - 5:00pm you will have practical race training, ending with afternoon tea, presentation of certificates and a memento of the day. During the day you are likely to do a total of 20+ laps, with each lap being just under a mile in length so you will cover quite a distance!
